Jed Moody

Jed Moody is a British MI5 agent who worked in Slough House. He was played by Steven Waddington in the series Slow Horses. Moody had a previous role as a tactical operative for MI5 but was moved to Slough House after making a significant mistake. Known for his aggressive behavior, he often found himself in trouble and ultimately met a tragic end.

  • Jed Moody was a British MI5 agent assigned to Slough House. He worked there under the supervision of Jackson Lamb. Earlier, he was part of MI5’s tactical team known as The Dogs. He was transferred to Slough House because of a mistake in his previous job.
  • Before being moved to Slough House, Moody worked for six years as an operative. He was under Nick Duffy’s command during this time. After his mistake, he was considered a failure by MI5. This is why he ended up in Slough House, which is known for housing failed agents.
  • Moody had a habit of harassing people waiting at a bus stop outside of Slough House. Catherine Standish, another Slough House worker, told him to stop bothering them. He believed they were spying on the area, but Standish disagreed. She said they were just waiting for a bus.
  • He was also asked to investigate the new hire at a local Chinese takeaway. If the person had no legal documents, Moody had to ask for five free meals for Slough House. This was how they would overlook the problem. It shows the shady work he was doing for Slough House.

Steven Waddington in Slow Horses

  • In one instance, Moody met Deputy Director-General Diana Taverner. He told her that Jackson Lamb was secretly running an operation from Slough House. Moody had bugged Lamb’s office to find this out. Taverner then made a deal with Moody to keep this information hidden.
  • Moody later broke into journalist Robert Hobden’s house. He tried to kill Hobden, but River Cartwright and Sidonie “Sid” Baker stopped him. He severely injured Baker and managed to escape. His violent behavior shows his dangerous side.
  • He returned to Slough House to remove the bug from Jackson Lamb’s office. However, he ran into Min Harper and Louisa Guy. During a fight with Harper, they both fell down the stairs. The fall broke Moody’s neck, and he died instantly.
